Welcome to the International Reinsurance Summit, Bermuda 2008
19 May 2008: Pre-summit workshop
20-21 May 2008: Main Summit
Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Bermuda
We have developed a programme for the 2008 Summit that focuses on the new and emerging risks that will impact the reinsurance industry from a legal and claims perspective. These risks include:
- Nanotechnology
- D&O/subprime issues
- Pandemics and obesity
- Identity fraud and cyber risk
- Global warming
- Product recall
All these, plus more, will be examined not only from a claims perspective but also from an underwriting and a contract wording perspective.
The unique features of the 2008 Summit include the round-table discussions on Day One which give delegates the opportunity to join a table of up to 10 people to informally discuss a number of reinsurance topics. Day Two of the Summit offers an opportunity to take a further, more in-depth study of some of the Summit themes by way of a series of workshops. Each participant will have an opportunity to attend two of the four workshops on offer. Finally, the afternoon of Day Two features a mock arbitration session where a mock dispute hearing will be demonstrated. The dispute will be based on a coverage dispute arising from a product recall.
