FAQs – distance learning

What are distance-learning courses?

The courses are designed to be self-managed. Each week you will receive a module which you read and work through. It should take approximately 3-4 hours per week. At the end of each module is a set of self-assessment questions, these are designed to highlight the key learning points and help you ensure you’ve fully understood.

At the end of the course we will send you an online evaluation form, once this has been returned you will be issued a certificate of completion. The course is designed to be flexible, which allows delegates to take their time and not be restricted by the deadline set by the course structure.

Are the distance learning courses accredited?

We are not accredited by an academic institution and therefore the course will not lead to a qualification. However we are accredited by The CPD Certification Service and the International Association of Distance Learning which are independent bodies that certifies the high quality of our courses.

Do I have to stick to the start and end date of the course?

The course is designed to be flexible and allow for unexpected events or commitments that may delay your progress. The distance learning manager will contact you at the scheduled end of the course with a set of guideline answers to the self-assessment questions and a link to the feedback form. They will also request a completion date if you have not already finished the course. Once the feedback form has been received the certificate of completion will be dispatched.

Does payment have to be made before I receive my modules?

We do not dispatch the modules until payment has been made. The modules will be delivered between seven and ten days, after payment has been received.

How long will it take to complete each module?

Three to four hours to read and understand the content, work through any practical examples and complete the self-assessment questions at the end. These questions can vary from requiring a sentence to page depending whether it’s technical answer or asking you to think about your style or preferences.

Do we have to send back the modules, when they have been completed?

These questions are self-assessed, they do not have to be submitted so it is your choice on the depth you choose to answer them in depending on your understanding.

When you have completed the course guidelines answers will be sent out to you for you to compare. A more detailed schedule will be sent to you with the starter pack and first module by post.

If I encounter problems, understanding the context of the modules?

You can contact the distance learning manager on + 44 (0) 20 7729 6677 or distancelearning@falconbury.co.uk, and clarification for any questions will be provided.

FAQs – in-house training

Who delivers the training?

The Falconbury team have spent the past 20 years developing an international faculty of expert trainers from all areas of industry and commerce. We work closely with you to carefully select the trainer(s) that are the ‘best fit’ for your organisation.

How much does it cost?

In-house training by its nature is a more cost-effective route to developing your staff simply by not incurring lengthy periods of time out of the office or travelling expenses. Each programme we develop is costed individually depending on what it is involved, if budget is a concern we are always able to develop something that suits both your training needs and your budget.

How does the process start?

Please contact Caroline Glen for more information on how we can work with you to help your organisation grow and take a look at how the process works by looking at ‘how we work with you’.

Fax: +44 (0) 20 7729 6110

How do I know you can deliver what you promise?

We have worked very successfully with many organisations from both the private and public sector across the UK and internationally. You’ll find some case studies and testimonials listed here.

Who are Falconbury Ltd?

Our training development team have a combined experience of over 60 years providing training and consultancy services to the international business community, across many industries. We are an enthusiastic and dynamic team who value the importance of understanding what the client and needs and delivering to that specification. We provide training and consultancy services in the form of face-to-face training in-company and open courses, TNA’s, coaching, team building, distance learning.

Where will the training be held?

The training can be delivered either at your offices or at an external venue whichever you decide is more appropriate. If you would like to use an external venue Falconbury can arrange this for an additional handling fee. This can be organised through your training development consultant when finalising the programme.

How many people can be trained at the same time?

This depends very much on the type and style of the programme. We generally recommend for an interactive and practical training programme with 1 trainer no more than 20 to ensure the quality is maintained. Even in this case there is flexibility to use more than one trainer on a programme, or run two programmes concurrently.
