Welcome to Falconbury Distance Learning

Falconbury has created a series of practical distance learning courses which have developed out of its pioneering work on short-course and professional programmes

 

Ranging from six to 12 weekly modules, they bring management, professional and personal development self-learning straight to your workplace or home. Supported by access to a panel of expert advisers, and the authors of the courses, as well as the option of attending a public event at a substantially reduced rate, they offer a flexible, cost-effective method of personal and staff development without the need for days away from the office, travel expenses and hotel accommodation. NB: Highly recommended for overseas organisations.

Please follow the steps below to get your download distance-learning programme.

CHOOSE YOUR PROGRAMME: Select the distance-learning course you wish to download and click the download tab and click Book now online.

GO TO MY BASKET: Now go to your basket in the grey band at the top of the screen and click View basket.

5 STEP BOOKING PROCESS

Step 1: Choose what currency you would like to pay in and how you would like to pay (NB: Don’t forget to click your acceptance of the T&Cs).

If you have an Account with Falconbury already, then Log in, then click Proceed.

If not

CREATE AN ACCOUNT: Click on Log in, then click the blue Register here button and then follow the instructions. Once you have filled in your details, click the Register button.

Step 2: Fill in any contact details that are missing where requested and click Next.

Step 3: Check the ‘Course Summary’ and make sure you have the right programme and price. Also, fill in your PO/reference number if you have one, then click Next.

Step 4: Fill in the participant(s) details, the click next.

Step 5: Ensure you are happy and click make booking.

Upon booking

PAYMENT & DOWNLOADING…

  • Payment can be made either by credit card or invoice

  • If payment is made via credit card when the booking is placed, the files will be available to download immediately from your account.

  • Click on My Account in the grey band at the top of the page. Then click on My Bookings where you will see your booking listsed.

  • Click on full details on the right hand side of your booking listing.

  • Your download modules will now be listed. The password for each module will be listed on the right-hand side of each listing.

NB: If you are paying via invoice then the files will be available to download from your account as soon as cleared payment has been received.

  • Please be aware all download files are encrypted, your password to access the files will also be displayed in your account when your download is available.

HOW THE COURSE WORKS...

Please work through the course at our own speed, each module should take 3-4 hours to complete. At the end of each module is a set of self-assessment questions for you to work through to ensure you have understood the content of the module. If you have any queries about the content please advise us through contact page and we will source an answer form the contributors.

WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED...

Once you have completed the course please advise us through contact page or +44 (0) 20 7729 6677 stating your name and the course title. The guideline answers to the self-assessment questions will be sent via email with web links to the feedback questionnaire and OPTIONAL online final assessment. These need to be completed within 14 days to receive your results and certificate.

CERTIFICATION...

  • Participants are required to achieve a pass rate of 80% and above on the OPTIONAL online final assessment to receive the advanced ‘Certificate of Excellence’ from our ADLiB Training Faculty. The final online assessment can be taken up to three times.

Assessment

ADLiB logoFalconbury’s distance learning programmes have been certified by the Academy of Distance Learning (ADLiB). ADLiB supplies an unbiased authentication of, and quality assurance for, distance learning programme providers.

Upon course completion, distance learning participants are invited to undertake a final external assessment in the form of an online multiple-choice paper.

Participants are required to achieve a pass rate of 80% and above to ensure that a high level of competence has been achieved within the subject area and to receive the advanced ‘Certificate of Excellence’. The final external assessment can be taken up to three times, thereafter the ‘General Certificate of Course Completion’ will be issued.

NB: The final external assessment is an optional appraisal and those participants not wishing to undertake it will automatically receive the ‘General Certificate of Completion’ for their personal development/training profile.

FAQs – distance learning

What are distance-learning courses?

The courses are designed to be self-managed and self assessed. Each week you will receive a module, which you read and work through. It should take approximately 3-4 hours per week. At the end of each module is a set of self assessed questions, these are designed to highlight the key learning points and help you ensure you’ve fully understood. They are for you to complete for to assess your level of understanding, it is not necessary to submit them for external assessment.

Do I have to stick to the start and end date of the course?

The course is designed to be flexible and allow for unexpected events or commitments that may delay your progress. The distance-learning manager will contact you via email at the scheduled end of the course with a set of guideline answers to the self assessment questions and links to the final assessment. However if you have not completed the course at this time, please be aware that the online forms are available online for up to 6 months.

Does payment have to be made before I receive my modules?

Yes, we do not dispatch the modules until payment has been made. The modules will be delivered between 7-10 days, after payment has been received.

How long will it take to complete each module?

3-4 hours to read and understand the content, work through any practical examples and complete the self-assessment questions at the end. These questions can vary from requiring a sentence to page depending whether it’s technical answer or asking you to think about your style or preferences.

Do we have to send back the modules, when they have been completed?

These questions are self-assessed, they do not have to be submitted so it is your choice on the depth you choose to answer them in depending on your understanding.

When you have completed the course guidelines answers will be sent out to you for you to compare.

Is there a final assessment?

Upon course completion, distance learning participants are invited to undertake a final external assessment in the form of an online multiple-choice paper. This is an optional requirement

Participants are required to achieve a pass rate of 80% and above to ensure that a high level of competence has been achieved within the subject area and to receive the advanced ‘Certificate of Excellence’. The final external assessment can be taken up to three times, thereafter the ‘General Certificate of Course Completion’ will be issued.

The course is designed to be flexible, which allows delegates to take their time and not be restricted by the deadline set by the course structure. Therefore if you have not completed the course by the time the questionnaire is received, don’t worry it will be available online for up to 6 months.

If I encounter problems, understanding the context of the modules?

Can I receive it all in one go?

Yes, all the modules plus the binder can be sent to you in one batch to allow you to work through the modules at your own pace.

What is the difference if the course is downloaded?

If the course is a download you will automatically receive all the modules in one go. Work through these in your own time and at your own pace. If you experience any difficulties or have any queries you can contact the distance learning manager at any time on on + 44 (0) 20 7729 6677 or via our contact page, where clarification for any questions will be provided.

Then when you have completed the course please advise the distance learning manager and the guideline answers to self assessment questions, feedback form an OPTIONAL online final assessment will be emailed to you for completion.

If you complete the feedback form a certificate of completion will be sent you in 7 workings days.

However if you choose to complete the OPTIONAL final assessment, you will be eligible for a Certificate of Excellence on completion. Once completed and submitted online these will be marked within 7 working days and confirmation of the results will be emailed. Participants are required to achieve a pass rate of 80% and above to receive the advanced ‘Certificate of Excellence’ from our ADLiB Training Faculty. The final external assessment can be taken up to three times.
